Monday, April 28, 2008
Festival of Mystery, Oakmont, PA
The Mystery Lovers Bookshop brought together 50 mystery writers and hundreds of avid readers at this annual event.

Friday, April 25 - Sunday, April 27, 2008
Malice Domestic, Arlington, VA
Besides being a panelist with other Agatha nominees, I participated in author-reader "speed dating" and was interviewed at the New Authors Breakfast. I didn't win the Agatha, but I took the contest for Most Creative Hat, a "cha-Poe" featuring a bobbleheaded Edgar Allan, a tombstone, a bat, and a blood red rose.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008
The Mysterious Bookshop, New York, NY
Launch party for Death Will Get You Sober. My big night was an unqualified success. Sixty people turned out to celebrate my book launch and sing Happy Birthday to me. SJ Rozan introduced me, and fellow mystery writers, childhood friends, professional colleagues, relatives, and buddies from every corner of my past and present life showed up to buy books and taste the book-shaped chocolate cake.

Thursday, April 10, 2008
Sisters in Crime New York/Tri-State Chapter, New York, NY
"You Always Remember Your First Time..." With fellow panelists Meredith Cole and Peggy Ehrhart, I talked about the journey to publication of that debut mystery, before and after signing the contract.

Thursday, March 27, 2008
Public Library Association National Conference, Minneapolis, MN
The Sisters in Crime booth at PLA gave me my first chance to give away brand new autographed copies of Death Will Get You Sober to mystery-loving librarians.

Saturday, January 12, 2008
American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, Philadelphia, PA
Mystery Writers of America, New York Chapter exhibit. Twenty-five great mystery writers and ten thousand librarians--author heaven! I handed out 300 "sneak previews" of Death Will Get You Sober and probably about that many bookmarks.

Thursday, November 1, 2007
Partners & Crime, New York, NY
I emceed the launch party for Murder New York Style by members of Sisters in Crime's New York TriState Chapter. The anthology includes my short story, "Death Will Clean Your Closet." It's Bruce's first appearance in print, although the events in the story take place after those of Death Will Get You Sober. Books signed by the fifteen authors present sold like hotcakes.

Tuesday, August 7, 2007
New York Public Library, New York, NY
I took part in a panel on "Women of Mystery: A Peek Behind the Writer's Veil" at the Mid-Manhattan Library. An audience of 75 turned out on a hot night to hear me, moderator Jane Cleland, and fellow panelists Mary Jane Clark, Robin Hathaway, and Mary Anne Kelly talk about ourselves, our characters, and our thoughts about gender issues in mystery fiction.

Saturday June 3, 2007
Book Expo America, New York, NY
I helped out at the Sisters in Crime table at this giant event in the Javits Center and coordinated a dinner for SinC’s New York/Tristate Chapter members and visiting authors that drew over 40 Sisters. I also met some great booksellers and librarians.

Friday May 4 – Monday, May 7, 2007
Malice Domestic, Arlington, VA
Besides attending this great convention for fans of traditional mysteries, I moderated a panel entitled “I Will Survive! What Doesn’t Kill Them Makes Them Stronger” on Sunday May 6 at 9 am. It was a perfect fit for Bruce, my recovering alcoholic protagonist, but when my husband heard the title, he thought it referred to me and the long road to publication. ;) Fellow panelists: Schuyler Kaufman, Wendy Howell Mills, and Gammy Singer. Just for fun, we put the chairs in a circle to simulate a therapy group.

Tuesday April 24 – Thursday April 26, 2007
Mystery Writers of America, Edgars © Week, New York, NY
I schmoozed and rendezvoused with fellow members of MWA and Sisters in Crime at the party at Black Orchid Bookstore on Tuesday, the Symposium and Agents & Editors party on Wednesday, and the Edgars awards banquet (and preliminary party—the hoi polloi one, not the celebrity one) on Thursday.
